Performance Appraisals

Sunset Bay Health Campus is committed to supporting and maintaining the educational and health focus described in our mission statement.

Yearly performance appraisals are part of this process.

A performance appraisal is a formal assessment of an employee’s performance. It is a way to help communicate with an employee about their job performance.

It also helps the organisation to ensure that they are meeting state and national requirements for accreditation.

Performance appraisals:

• provide a way for staff to express their views about any aspect of their job,
• enhance communication between supervisors and their staff,
• encourage co-operative planning, and
• facilitate the identification of professional development needs.

At Sunset Bay Health Campus performance appraisals are held as a discussion between supervisor and staff member. At this time:

• goals of the previous yearly appraisal are looked at to see if they have been met,
• staff member and supervisor discuss how overall performance has been, and
• areas that may need improvement and areas that have been positive are discussed.

Feedback on performance allows both staff and management to keep track of how they are going.

Ongoing evaluation ensures that all are satisfied with the staff member’s performance.

Completed documents are confidential and are kept in the Human Resources department.
